silver Jubilee 158

Thursday August 15, 2013, was a special day for the Congregation of Sisters of Eucharistic Heart of Jesus in Nigeria. It was all happening at Sacred Heart Parish, Ojota, Lagos.  It was the silver Jubilee celebration of first vows of Srs. Helen Oyekanmi, Anne Marie Ezenwa, Josephine Akwaoh, Mary Anthony Opara, Patricia Obavowodo, Josephine Iteghite, Rosemary Ogale. Four sisters also made their final profession of vows.

It was an occasion filled with joy. The Archbishop of Lagos, His Grace, Adewale Martins presided at the mass. The Archbishop Emeritus of Lagos, His Eminence, Anthony Cardinal Okogie was also in attendance. The families and friends of the Sisters came in full galore. It was a special and joyous occasion. Different cultural groups came with music. The parish hosted the sisters and made delicious meals.

During the Mass the Archbishop encouraged the Sisters to always graft themselves as good branches unto our Lord Jesus, the only True vine. As the Lord did say in the Gospel of John, apart from me you can do nothing; the Bishop continued, the Sisters can do nothing if there are separated from the Lord. The way to remain close to the Lord according to him, is through prayer and sacrifice.  The Superior General Sr. Agatha Osarenkhoe congratulated the Sisters and thanked the Bishops and all in attendance. It was a great day of celebration. The Sisters were overwhelmed by love and generosity of family, friends and Sisters. May the life of the Sisters continue to give glory to  God.
