The Spirit of the congregation is one of sharing the sentiments of Christ when he gave us the Eucharist- the spirit of thanksgiving, praise, sacrifice and love.  Animated by this sprit, the sisters dedicate themselves to the service of God and neighbour rooted in the love of the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus expressed through evangelization and engagement in :

Sisters Host Workshop on the Eucharist

The Year 2005 had been declared the “Year of the Eucharist” by Pope John Paul II. Keeping in the spirit of the year, the Sisters of the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus hosted a workshop– on May 14th at Saint Michael’s, their home parish, in Spryfield- – “Eucharist-the Food for Our Journey”. It brought together more than 100 people from across the diocese of Halifax.  Archbishop, Terrence Prendergast, SJ began the day by celebrating mass. There was drumming, dancing and a blend of African and Canadian liturgical celebrations.

The faithful then gathered in the parish hall where Father Owen Connolly gave the keynote address. He spoke of how the Eucharist begins with a Eucharistic experience, a feeling. Mothers in a family often create a Eucharistic experience around food-it is sacred-it nourishes the body and mind. At mass we share in the mealtime with Jesus Christ- the Eucharist-food for the soul.”I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never be hungry, he who believes in me will never thirst”(Jn,6:35)

The very successful day ended with an hour long Eucharistic Adoration-time for spiritual nourishment.
